About Our Artistic Director
Nives Wetzel de Cediel is an internationally trained performing
artist with almost 20 years of experience in performance and dance
education. Among her many accomlishments Nives has studied and
performed Brazilian and Cuban dance locally with award-winning groups
including Ginga Brasil, Fogo na Roupa and Kubata.
Nives has offered a variety of dance classes at local studios including Alice
Arts, Rhythm and Motion and the Mission Cultural Center. Nives is
energetic, knowledgeable and skilled as a dancer and teacher.
She is committed to making sure students have fun, feel challenged and
find their own personal dance style.
Students will learn a variety of Afro-Brazilian dance forms such as Samba, Samba Reggae
and Candomble. As students develop skill with basic footwork, dance combinations
will gradually increase in complexity. The Samba dance class typically consist of a
generous warm-up, basic foot samba, samba technique and cool down.
Samba is fast-paced, dynamic and sure to make you sweat -- wear comfortable clothes and flexible-soled or no shoes.
