About Us
'Batucada do Leste' ('Drummers of the East'), aka the East Bay Community Samba School is an exciting and talented community based samba group located in the East Bay. The group is comprised of men and women of all music and dance skill levels under the direction of Shmuel Daffner and Nives Wetzel de Cediel.
Batucada do Leste's goals are to make it possible for ANYONE to learn about Samba music and dance, become proficient in its performance, and ultimately perform in the San Francisco Grand Carnaval Parade and other venues. Batucada do Leste is committed to having BIG FUN, making great music and dance in a positive, family-friendly environment.
